Operational Details: Mission Profile

  • Who: Open to all athletes—civilian and military—across four distinct mission categories:

    • Sprint: 800 yd Swim | 20.5 km Bike | 5 km Run

    • Super-Sprint: 400 yd Swim | 11.8 km Bike | 2.5 km Run

    • Team Relay: Split the Sprint distance (800 yd/20.5 km/5 km) among 2 or 3 members.

    • Inaugural 5K Run: A standalone 5 km footrace on a flat, fast course.

  • What: The official kickoff to the Alberta triathlon season, designed to establish your performance baseline and sharpen your competitive edge.

  • When: 9 May 2026. Afternoon operation; H-Hour is not before 11:30 hrs. This timing ensures optimal spring temperatures and time for morning gear prep.

  • Where: Situated entirely on CFB Edmonton. The course utilizes the base pool, secure garrison roads, the retired runway, and the base’s northern running trails.

  • Why: To bridge the gap from training to competition in a high-tempo military environment while raising funds for Soldier On.

  • How: Register online to secure your slot. On race day, arrive at the Garrison, clear the gate, and report to transition to dial in your kit before the first wave hits the water.

The Greater Mission: Supporting Soldier On

While the race provides a tactical benchmark for your season, the primary objective is to support the Soldier On program. This event is more than a competition; it is a fundraiser dedicated to the recovery and well-being of ill and injured CAF members and veterans. By crossing the finish line, you are directly contributing to a national mission of resilience and peer support. As athletes, we know that physical activity is a pillar of mental and physical resilience; Soldier On harnesses this same spirit to help our veterans overcome hurdles and "Soldier On" into their next chapter. In our first two years, this community raised $10,000 for the cause—for 2026, we want to match that in a single year. Your participation ensures that no member is left behind on their road to recovery.

Welcome to the Front Lines of Endurance

Step behind the wire and report for duty at Alberta’s Season Opener triathlon. Garrison Edmonton Triathlon Team (GETT) invites you to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Edmonton for a mission that establishes your baseline for the year. This isn't just a physical test; it is a check on your operational readiness for the season ahead. Whether you are a seasoned triathlete hunting for a personal best or a first-timer ready to earn your stripes, this course offers a rare opportunity to race on active military grounds. From the disciplined precision of our "Tennis Court Central" transition zone to the open tarmac where strategy meets sweat, every meter is designed to gauge your fitness.

But a successful mission relies on the strength of the unit. We believe that elite performance is forged by community support, which is why we have designed Beat-the-Base to be as inclusive as it is competitive. With family-friendly waves open to ages 8 and up and a course layout that keeps spectators right in the action, your "support crew" is part of the race from the first whistle to the final kick.

So, check your kit, study your orders, and prepare for deployment. The objective is simple, but the challenge is real: Are you ready to Beat-the-Base?
