About Soldier On

Soldier On is the CAF’s leader in supporting the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and Veterans through sport, recreation, and creative program delivery and community building. Soldier On activities and events serve as an introduction, or re-introduction, to sport, recreation and creative activities for ill and injured CAF serving and Veterans. Overall, the aim of Soldier On activities and events is to build confidence, community, and motivate ill and injured members to adopt an active lifestyle. Additionally, Soldier On activities play a vital role in engaging and supporting ill and injured members. They provide meaningful challenges and connections that reinforce the message that they are not alone as they continue to recover, rehabilitate, and reintegrate into the CAF and their local communities.

Soldier On is a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) program managed and delivered by the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) Personnel Support Programs (PSP) on behalf of the CAF Transition Group (CAF TG).

While primarily funded by Public Funds, Soldier On also has a charitable arm - the Soldier On Fund - administered through the Canadian Armed Forces Charitable Funds as a qualified donee which augments programming and provides grants to both serving members and Veterans.

Impact Statement – Beat-the-Base Triathlon

Over the past two years, the Beat the Base Triathlon community has made a remarkable difference in the lives of ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans. By raising more than $10,000, participants and organizers have directly helped Soldier On empower members on their recovery journeys through sport, recreation, and connection.

This generous support has provided the equivalent of over 13 members with the specialized equipment they need to pursue healthier, more active lifestyles. From adaptive bikes to canoes to golf memberships, these grants remove financial barriers and help members rediscover confidence, capability, and camaraderie.

A $10,000 donation can also fully fund a local or regional Soldier On event, creating meaningful opportunities for ill and injured members and Veterans to come together through sport, recreation, creative activity and connection.

This level of support covers essential costs such as accessible venues, equipment, instruction, and coordination, removing barriers to participation. These events often serve as a vital entry point back into physical activity and peer connection, helping members rebuild confidence, strengthen wellbeing, and rediscover a sense of belonging within a supportive community.

“The ongoing commitment of Beat the Base Triathlon participants shows our members that their service is honoured and that their communities stand firmly behind them. Your dedication is helping change lives — one member, one moment of confidence, and one renewed sense of possibility at a time.

Thank you for being an essential part of the Soldier On community and for championing those who have served.” - Melanie Borges, Soldier On
